God’s Executioners: Killing in God’s name… Part 1

Does God need executioners?

Does the Almighty God, who has the ultimate power to do what He pleases, need human beings to force other people do His bidding?

Can’t the Almighty God fight His own battles?

How can we really tell who is fighting on God’s behalf, since many different religious organizations or sects claim to be fighting for God’s cause?
Can all the different religious people, with their differences in doctrines, be fighting for God?
God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints (New King James Version). So how can God instruct all the different groups to go out and kill in His name, with their contradictory doctrines?

Murder in God’s  Name

  • In Nigeria, the Islamic militants, Boko Haram, stormed a secondary  school in Yobe and killed 29 boys and burnt the school to the ground. The Police reported that some of the student’s bodies were burnt to ashes.
  • In Maiduguri, fighters killed 90 people in an early morning attack on a remote village. Gunmen surrounded the village of Izge, near the border with Cameroon, sprayed it with bullets, and set off explosions to burn down houses.

These brutalities are done in the name of the Almighty God, “The Compassionate One,” the “Ever Merciful God.”

Jesus taught His followers to conquer by persuasion; not by force

Jesus Christ taught his followers to express their views or beliefs by love. He told His followers they should not compel people to accept their message, (Luke 10:10-12.), because He came to promote peace. That means, Christians who indulge in violence and brutalities are not obeying their Master Jesus.
Using persuasion may take time; that is why violent-minded people do not want to take that course. However, that method is devoid of the deaths, pain and sufferings that follow violence and suicide bombings.

If you are patient, you can use persuasion to get people to accept your suggestions or views.

  1. Well, it is well said and asked. Does the Almighty God whose infinite power could accomplish whatever he wishes need humans to fight his battles for him??? If YES, then it appears that the so-called “Almighty God” is powerless in effect so people hide behind him (the almighty) and religious ideologies to cause all kinds of harm and evil to humanity and properties to satisfy their own cause.
The question that boggles me is this: WHY DON’T THE ISLAMIC COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD TAKE IN THEIR OWN BROTHERS AND SISTERS AS REFUGEES IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES AND WHY DON’T THE DISPLACED ARABS SEEK ASYLUM IN OTHER ISLAMIC LANDS IF THEY CLLAIM ISLAM MEANS PEACE??? Why is Iraq calling on America who in the eyes of Islam is considered “Kaafri” or infidels for help. Why don’t the other Islamic nations come to the aid of their suffering brothers and sisters??? Is it acceptable in the eyes and minds of Islam that Muslims should sojourn in non-Islamic nations where their Sharia laws are not in force??
In my opinion Muslims should rather die in their own countries no matter what, than to become refugees in non-Islamic believers lands and possibly they should refuse help from non-Islamic people else they should be accused of abandoning the Islamic faith. What’s your stake??? Awaiting some answers.

    1. It is human nature at display. People sometimes will use religion, ethnicity (race, etc), culture or custom, to justify their individual ego. In many religions, including my own Christianity, I have heard some justifying brutalities. How do we know that God is actually telling militants to kill in his name? One comes along claiming God has instructed him to do something; another comes along contradicting that and saying that he, too, is on God’s instruction; then comes yet another also contradicting the others. This goes on as various divisions or sects shout loud and clear that they are all under God’s instructions. Meanwhile, in 1 Corinthians 14:33, we read, “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints (New King James Version). Besides, we have various groups with contradictory doctrines, each claiming to be the one that has the pure, undiluted, teachings of God, and yet they all contradict each other. So how can God instruct any of such groups to go out and kill in His name, with their contradictory doctrines? Why don’t we allow God Himself to fight. In Judges 6:28-31, when the people wanted to punish Gideon for destroying the altar of Baal, their god, Baal’s priest reasoned with them, “Would you plead for Baal? Would you save him? Let the one who would plead for him be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him plead for himself, because his altar has been torn down!” God is able to defend Himself. The Almighty God does not need us to fight for Him.
